We rely on a FLoating UPweller SYstem (FLUPSY) to produce our cultchless seed. Designed and manufactured here at Wells Cove Shellfish, this unique system has ZERO moving parts in contact with the water, and uses a stream of low pressure air (supplied by a 0.5 hp blower) as the motive force to circulate water through the system. Seedstock is containerized into 4 gal. buckets that conveniently drop into position within custom fabricated fiberglass troughs. Flow rates are easily adjustable and can be varied from trough to trough. Capacity is approximately 500K animals at a 18 mm shell length.
